Attorneys

Between them, the partners at ModesettWilliams have tried an average of four cases a year for the past two decades. Bo Joseph, a first-year attorney with ModesettWilliams, has two jury trials under his belt. That is more than many litigators have in their entire career.

In just the last four years, the lawyers at ModesettWilliams have earned significant multi-million dollar verdicts in multiple Texas counties. They also have litigated significant matters in various states, leading to favorable settlements totaling tens of millions of dollars.

My law practice is devoted exclusively to civil trial, focusing on commercial disputes and business torts (breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, misrepresentation, real estate, misappropriation of trade secrets, construction, technology, and securities). I work for people I like. They tend to be independent-minded, risk takers, leaders. I like to think I possess those same character traits. I suppose it’s no coincidence that many of my clients have become close friends. I believe this connection, combined with the relentless preparation of the client’s case, predisposes juries in my client’s favor. I believe fervently in the dual role a lawyer serves – advocate and counselor. In the courtroom, I am a reasoned but passionate advocate. In the boardroom, I endeavor to show the client both sides of a case and provide an accurate assessment. I am not reluctant to recommend a course of action if it makes sense for my client and their business, even if it means less personal financial return.

I believe it is my job to effectively represent my clients in a place where few people ever hope to go, the courthouse to speak for them when they have been wronged. Whether it is a company or an individual, I stand between my client and justice. Courtrooms are intimidating places where life-changing events occur. I believe that when your life or business is harmed by another, you need someone with a strong will and confidence to speak for you. That counsel and representation is not just in the boardroom or in a hearing, but also in front of a judge and jury where the most critical decisions are made.

Years of trying high stakes cases have perfected my strategies on how to win. The death of a child, the future of a company, the crippling of a healthy, contributing citizen, all these things I have argued before juries. Consider it fearless advocacy for my clients.

While I have only been a practicing attorney for a short time, I know that the experience I have trying cases is far beyond that of my colleagues at larger firms. There is a great benefit in working in a smaller firm, as it offers more personal attention to clients and allows a young lawyer such as myself to acquire skills that would otherwise take years to develop.
